Sample: Growth Mindset Narrative
As a student, I did not have a growth mindset. I completed assignments and learned, but I did not like being wrong or taking chances. I assumed that teachers were the experts, and I would not question their judgments about my ability — or lack of ability. If I couldn’t understand it, I assumed that I just wasn’t good at it. As part of my courses, I encourage students to have a growth mindset, and I share the story linked below as an example of an opportunity that I missed due to my fixed mindset.
